Still time to promote end of the year gifts

Most online donations happen in the last week of the year as donors seek to beat the end of the year tax deadline. This is great week to make a last minute appeal via email to your online donors. Here's a great example from one our good causes, the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Florida. This is from their email newsletter.

Atlanta Ronald McDonald House Charities launches new web site and improved online donation process

Atlanta Ronald McDonald House Charities (ARMHC) is a nonprofit that has been working with us for 8 years come this January. During that time we've helped them raise hundreds of thousands of dollars online through donations, event ticket sales and a yearly raffle.

Atlanta Ronald McDonald House Charities provides a home away from home for families of seriously ill and injured children who must travel to receive treatment at Atlanta area children’s hospitals. Their staff is extremely dedicated and they have been a joy to work with.

ARMHC has recently launched a new, redesigned web site. In conjunction with their new look, we launched a new online donation system for them that not only incorporates their new design but includes process improvements to help them convert more donations in 2011.

Please visit their web site and support them with a donation.

Recommended Reading - Shoppers get more security savvy online

I've been meaning to share some interesting survey results I came across from the National Cyber Security Alliance. The National Cyber Security Alliance recently conducted a survey of online shoppers that shows how smart and concerned online shoppers are about the security and privacy of their online transactions. The survey reports that 64% of online shoppers have abandoned an online order for security concerns. These type of savvy online shoppers are also your potential online donors. They will walk away from an online donation just as easily as their online shopping order, if they are concerned that the site is not secure or that their personal information will be misused.

Statistics like this are the reason we take security very seriously on the sites we build. We also understand is not enough to be secure. You must communicate that security so the donor feels comfortable in making that online donation. That is why we include multiple security logos (shown above-the-fold) and explicit security  statements on the sites we host.

Check out the survey results.
